Suggest a better descriptionSautee onion and peppers in margarine until tender; set aside. Combine beef and 3/4 t. salt; cook until meat is browned. Drain and set aside. Combine water, cornmeal and remaining 1/2 t. salt; mix well. Stir in corn, eggs, milk, soda and salt. Add oil; blend well. Pour 1/2 of mixture into a greased 9x9x2-inch baking dish. Layer meat mixture, onion mixture and cheese. Pour remaining cornmeal mixture over all. Bake at 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Cook 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
