Cream Cheese stuffed mushrooms
Mix cream cheese, chopped onion, bread crumbs and crumbled breakfast sausage together. Mixture should be pliable enough that you can spoon or press into each mushroom cap. Add a little more bread crumbs or cream cheese to get desired consistency.
In a separate bowl or measuring cup, melt the butter and minced garlic and drizzle over the mushrooms. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
Remove the mushrooms from oven and squeeze lemon juice over the top. Serve warm.
Note: Omit the sausage for a meat-free appetizer. The filling freezes well if you have any left.
