A unique appetizer for any gathering...great for the holidays and travels well. It creates a lot of conversation among guests trying to figure out the sweet flavor of the almond extract and the spicy flavor of the red pepper flakes.
1. Mix Syrup, salt, fruit, nuts, and red pepper in a small sauce pan.
2. Heat to simmer, stirring to blend. Remove from heat and add extract.
3. Cool to room teperature.
4. Place cream cheese on a plate and top with fruit mixture. Serve with crackers.
I use Craisins Trail Mix but remove the bananas.
