From the Christmas Recipes from the Lion House cookbook.
Sprinkle chicken with garlic salt, pepper, and monosodium glutamate. Let stand for one hour or more. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Dip chicken in beaten egg, then in cornstarch or flour. Brown in hot oil. Place in baking dish. Cover with following sauce: Mix sugar, vinegar, chicken stock, catsup, and soy sauce in saucepan and heat. Pour over chicken. Bake uncovered for one hour. Turn chicken once or twice. Make 6 servings.
NOTE: I don't use the monosodium glutamate...it still tastes great! Also, there have been times when I've been in a hurry and haven't used the garlic salt and pepper or maybe sprinkled it on just before cooking but didn't have time to let it sit for one hour...it still tastes great! And, instead of turning the chicken (it can be difficult), I spoon the sauce over the chicken during the baking time once or twice...it still tastes great! We love this recipe!
