Mix together beef, egg, salt, pepper, green onions and 1 tbs of the cornstarch. Shape into 1 inch balls. Drain pineapple, reserve juice.
Heat 2 tbs of oil in a skillet and brown meatballs. Remove to paper towels to drain. Add remaining oil to skillet. Mix together remaining sugar, water, cornstarch, soy sauce,vinegar and pineapple juice. Add this mixture to skillet, stirring until thickened. Add pineapple, bell pepper, meatballs and cherries. Bring to a boil and cook 3 minutes. Serve warm.
