Suggest a better descriptionsoften yeast in warm water. Heat milk until a film wrinkles on surface. Remove from heat and stir in butter, sugar, and salt. Cool to Luke warm. Mix in yeast and as much flour as you can stir in. Put remaining flour on bread board, dump dough on top and knead in all the flour.
Put into greased bowl. Brush lightly with additional butter. Cover and let rise in warm spot until size doubles (approx 2-2.5 hours). Punch dough down and divide in half. Divide each half into 3 parts and roll each part with palm of hand into a rope like piece (about 12 inches long) with one end thicker. Braid together and place on a cookie sheet. Repeat and place on top of other. Be sure thick ends of rope are on the top of each other.
Brush with egg yolk and water mixture and let rise until side doubles. Bake at 350 for 35-40 min.
