Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening with 2 knives or a pastry blender, until mixture is the consistency of coarse cornmeal. Make a well in centre of these ingredients; add liquid slowly. Stir dough and turn onto lightly floured board. Knead lightly for a few minutes. Roll out to about 1/2 inch in thickness. Cut dough with a floured biscuit cutter or drinking glass. Place biscuits on baking sheet. Bake in a hot oven at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Yields 15-18 biscuits.d
