This is a modification of Gramps Famous Chili from the Spears family of Dunwoody, GA. This Chili won the University of Georgia Chili Cook Off Peoples Choice Award. It is an awesome spicy chili that won't overpower you with heat.
Brown beef first a frying pan, then the sausage in the same pan you used for the ground beef. Use a spatula to chop up both the beef and the sausage into very small pieces. No need to drain.
When done browning, mix the meats together in a dutch oven size pot.
Drain and add the beans. Smush them with a potato masher.
Mix in the Picante Sauces, Tomato Sauce, Tomato Paste, and Seasoning
Simmer for an hour and a half at least (the longer the better).
Serve over Rotelli Pasta (or Rice)
Put a dollop of sour cream
Cheddar cheese on top
You can eat this in as little as an hour and a half. However, it is best when simmered over 2 and a half hours.
