Heat some oil in a wok and fry the red paste for a few minutes to release the flavours.
Add the steak and fry until the steak is browned and well coated with the red paste (around 3 minutes).
Add the coconut milk, fish sauce, palm sugar and lime juice and bring to a simmer for around 5 minutes.
Add the bamboo shoots and sweet basil and simmer for a further 5 minutes until the sauce has begun to thicken.
