Add 1 tsp vinegar to 3/4 cup milk to make sour milk. Sift flour once. Add baking powder & salt. Sift together 3 times. Cream 1/2 cup butter thoroughly, add 1 1/2 cups sugar gradually. Cream together. Add 2 eggs and beat well. Add 1 cup mashed bananas and beat again. Combine baking soda and sour milk. Add flour mixture and combine alternately with sour milk. Add a little at a time. Beat after each addition til smooth. Add vanilla and nuts. Bake 30-35 (or up to 50) minutes at 375. Test with toothpick.
Buttercream Frosting -
Combine confectioners sugar, 1/2 cup butter, vanilla, and 3 Tablespoons milk in large bowl. Beat at low speed for 1-2 minutes. Will frost and fill 2 layer cake, 13X9X2 inch sheet cake or 24 cupcakes.
