Cream margarine with electric mixer. Add half of cake mix, water and eggs. Blend well. Add remaining cake mix and beat until smooth. Stir in coconut.
With well-floured hands, roll dough into small balls using 1 T. dough for each.
Place about 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake 375 for 10 mins.
Remove from oven and make depression in top of each cookie with back of teaspoon.
Bake 5 mins. longer. Remove and cool. Place a teaspoon of preserves in center of each cookie.
