Suggest a better descriptionMix brown sugar, shortening, butter, egg yolk and vanilla. Mix in Flour and salt until dough holds together. Shape into balls. Beat egg white. Dip each ball in egg white, roll in pecans. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. press thumb into center of each. Bake at 350 8-9 minutes. Cool and fill with jelly or frosting (1 cup sifted xx sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla water or cream at 1 tablespoon to 1 1/2 . Cream together and add food coloring.
