Chop carrot, celery, onion and basil in Cuisinart until fine. Add to sausage meat and brown for a few minutes. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to simmer. Let simmer for 1 hour. Add balsamic vinegar to taste and let stand for 5-10 minutes. Sauce will be very thick.
