1. Layer sliced mozzarella on serving platter.
2. Layer sliced tomatoes over the mozzarella.
3. Sprinkle the tomatoes with salt.
4. Carefully drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the tomatoes.
5. Next, drizzle the olive oil over the top.
6. Season with freshly ground black pepper, to taste.
8. Let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before finally topping the tomatoes and mozzarella with basil.
