Suggest a better descriptionSieve the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl and stir in the sugar and the oatmeal. Gently melt the butter and black treacle together in a pan. Add to the dry ingredients and stir in with the well beaten egg and the milk. Heat a thick frying pan or griddle and grease lightly. Drop teaspoons of the mixture on to the pan; as soon as bubbles appear on the surface turn over and cook the other side. Serve hot with butter.
