Preheat oven to 375.
Mix together protein (chicken or tuna), ricotta, drained spinach, diced red bell pepper, artichoke hearts, and red pepper flakes, egg, and panko. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Flatten crescent roll dough in a rectangle on a baking sheet. Mound the mixture into a log down the middle, leaving a few inches on each side. Make diagonal cuts in the dough along each side.
Cover the log with slices of provolone cheese, overlapping slightly.
Tuck the top and bottom crescent roll dough over the log. Then, alternating sides, bring the flaps over the log, making a “braid”.
Bake at 375 for 25 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
