Mix butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla thoroughly.
Blend dry ingredients together, mix into shortening mixture.
Press and mold into a smooth long roll about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper, chill several hours or overnight.
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Cut in thin slices 1/8" to 1/16". Place a little apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
