Mix shortening, sugars, eggs, and vanilla thoroughly. Blend dry ingredients together, mix into shortening mixture. Press and mold into a long, smooth roll about 2 1/2" in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper; chill several hours or overnight. Heat oven to 400. Cut cookies in thin slices. Place a little apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 6 to 8 minutes until lightly browned.
