Suggest a better description*Cook potatoes in salted water for 10 minutes or until soft
*Drain well and turn into a large mixing bowl
*Mash until smooth
*Beat with the milk, half the butter and salt & pepper to taste
*Cook cabbage & carrots separatly in salted boiling water for 5 minutes
*Drain well
*Combine the cabbage with the potatoes
*Melt the remaining butter in a small skillet and cook the onion over medium heat until soft but not brown
*PREHEAT oven 375
*Spread a layer of mashed potatoes in the bottom of a greased dish
*Layer onions on top then carrots
*Repeat to use up all ingredients, finishing with a layer of potato
*Sprinkle the grated cheese on top, place the dish in the oven, and bake for 45 min or until the top is golden and crusty
*Remove fro oven and serve immediatly
