This recipe was originally printed in the Louisville Courier-Journal in the 1960's. It is prepared at our family holidays every year.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put orange and apples in bowl and bake, uncovered, about 15 to 20 minutes. They should be soft, but not mushy. In a large saucepan, combine ale, rum, apple cider, sugar, ginger, and cinnamon. Turn on high heat and warm, stirring until sugar dissolves. Do not boil, but drink is only good served hot. Remove from fire and pour over hot fruit. Serve.
