Heat oil in large pot
Saute onions and chard stems about 10 minutes. Add a pinch of salt.
Add garlic and thyme and cook another 1-2 minutes until garlic is fragrant but not browned
Add broth and bring to a simmer.
Add beans, sausage, and chard leaves and cook until chard is wilted, about 7 minutes.
Serve immediately.
