This is a wonderful buttercream recipe that will allow you to decorate with it.
Cream butter and shortening with electric mixer. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating wel on medium speed. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When all sugar has been mixed in, the icing will appear dry. Add milk and beat at high speed until light and fluffy. Keep icing covered with a damp cloth until ready to use. For best results, keep in refrigerator when not in use. Yield: 3 cups
More confectioner's sugar can be added for a stiffer consistency.
For a smoother texture, you can a 1 Tablespoon Light Corn Syrup with you add the Vanilla.
