Beef with Mushrooms (Moo Goo Ngow)

I found this in an old international recipe book years ago. I still have the book but this recipe was so well used that that page is missing.

Ingredients

1 clove crushed

3 tablespoons

1 1/2 pounds sliced thin

3 tablespoons diced

1 1/2 cups

1/2 pound sliced

3 tablespoons

1 tablespoon


Directions

Place oil and garlic in a heavy fry pan. Cook gently until garlic is soft not burned! Remove garlic. Add the seasoned steak slices and onion and cook over a moderate heat, stirring constantly until the meat is nicely browned. Add the beef broth and mushrooms, cover and cook gently for about 15 minutes. Add the soy sauce to the cornstarch to make a paste. Mix well into the broth mixture. Cook over a low heat, stirring constantly until the broth thickens.
