A flavorful chicken dish named after Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. This was a copycat recipe I found & modified of the Bourbon Chicken sold in most Chinese take-outs; which rarely use bourbon as a component. It's wonderfully sweet & spicy without being too hot. For kids that don't like hotstuffs, cut down on the pepper flakes!
Category: Main Dish
Cuisine: Chinese
2 pounds boneless chicken breasts cut into bite-size pieces
1 tablespoon olive oil (1-2)
1 garlic clove crushed
1/4 teaspoon ginger
3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup apple juice
1/3 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch (if thick sauce desired)
This chicken is really good! I doubled the sauce so there was extra to drizzle over rice.
brettnleosmomPretty Good! Based on reviews, I lightened up on the soy. I also used 4 breasts, and recommend you double the sauce recipe. I also added a few veggies.
jck1225So good
Aaron-2Easy, but not impressive. Mostly tasted like soy sauce. Maybe I made it wrong.
Rawbaconeasy and yummy! i substituted the apple juice with wine.
