Buttermilk Brownies

Ingredients

1 cup water

1 cup Butter

1/2 cup Nestle Nesquik cocoa

2 cups All purpose flour

2 cups Granulated sugar

1 teaspoon Baking soda

1/2 teaspoon Salt

2 Eggs beaten

1/2 cup Buttermilk

1 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla


Directions

In small saucepan, add; water, butter, & cocoa. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. In large bowl, combine; flour, sugar, soda, salt. Stir in; beaten eggs, buttermilk, & vanilla. Add cocoa mixture and mix well. Pour into a greased 12X15 jelly roll pan and bake 375 degree for 20 minutes. Test with toothpick. IMMEDIATELY spread following, warm cocoa buttermilk frosting over brownies. Cool. Cut into bars. Frosting In small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup butter, 3 Tbsp. buttermilk, & 3 Tbsp. nestle cocoa. Cook & stir until boiling. Remove from heat. Beat in: 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar & 1/2 tsp. vanilla.

These "brownies" taste more like a sheet cake, but they are wonderful all the same. I used Hershey's cocoa instead of Nestle Nesquik and had to add a little more buttermilk to the icing to get it to spread, but everything turned out perfect. Very tasty and certainly a hit with the kids and their friends!
