Candied Yams

The best candied yams I have ever made!!!

Ingredients

6 Lg Sweet Potatoes

1 teaspoon Salt

1 cup Brown sugar

3 tablespoons Cold Butter

3 tablespoons All purpose flour

12 Lg Marshmallows

1 cup Heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup Chopped Pecans


Directions

Preheat oven at 350(F) degrees, or 180(C) degrees. Cut Sweet Potatoes in half (length wise) and boil in water for approximately 25 minutes. Remove from heat and drain. When cool enough to handle, peel the potatoes and cut into fourths. Place potatoes in a 9x13" pan. Mix the dry ingredients and sprinkle evenly over the potatoes. Slice the 3 T Butter from the stick and then cut each T into fourths. Drop the butter evenly around the pan. Place marshmallows in the pan (3 rows of 4) Sprinkle pecans evenly over the potatoes in the pan. Pour Cream over top of the everything. Bake at 350(F) for 45 minutes or until marshmallows are golden brown. Enjoy!!!

I have been trying to perfect my sweet potatoes for yrs now and this recipe was the best ever. My family loved them and even I went for more helpings. This year there were no leftovers. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe we loved it.

Really excellent! It was a big hit at our Thanksgiving dinner. I did make dome minor modifications. I cut the potatoes up into chunks (about 1-1.5"square). I used about 2/3 of a bag of mini marshmallows in place of the large ones. Finally, I added 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp vanilla to the cream before I poured it over the other ingredients.

This is a traditional recipe I make for Thanksgiving! A little tip...to save the precious oven/stovetop time boil the potatoes and place them in the pan the day before so all you have to do is put the toppings on and pop it in the oven before your family feast! Enjoy!
