I made these for my kids and myself but decided to add peanut butter, molasses (2 tablespoons), and wheat germ I subbed check rice cereal for the crispy rice (since my kids polished that off this morning!) and holy cow it tastes amazing mmmmm I'm going to do every variation of this recipe as I can. I gave only 4 stars because I think that the cooking temp is better at 325 than 350 for me but the recipe it's self is great!!
nikolemarekThese are good! I didn't have rice cereal so I used crushed up Kashi Go Lean. I left out the 1/4 cup sugar also, and they were still plenty sweet. Next time I'll add peanut or other nut butter. My 6 year old likes them too.
MelissaHTI just made these tonight for the first time. I added about a 1/4 cup peanut butter. They are very chewy, and much cheaper/healthier than buying store bought bars. I wrapped them in plastic wrap, and put them in a plastic container. I am curious to know if these freeze/reheat well. I might give it a try.
lorimastThese are great. I substitute dried cranberries and dried apples for the raisins and nuts, and granola cereal for the crispy rice cereal. It's difficult to keep my family off of them while they're still warm and gooey.
OziumWe omitted the cane sugar, raisins, and chocolate chips. For the nuts we used half roasted sunflower and half cinnamon almonds. Baked 30 mins. Not too sweet! Texture is slightly softer than Quaker Chewy, and feels a lot healthier.
