Chicken Broccoli Pasta Alfredo

Instead of broccoli, you can use green beans, carrots or your family's favorite vegetable. You can even add strips of cooked chicken and turn it into a main dish.

Ingredients

1/2 package (8 ounce) penne, farfalle or fettuccine

2 cooked boneless skinless chicken breasts sliced into strips

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

3 tablespoons butter

1 large clove fresh garlic minced

2 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1-1/2 cups milk

1/2 tsp. dried basil

1/2 tsp. fresh parsley minced

1/4 tsp. black pepper

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. Italian herbs (optional)

3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


Directions

Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, bring 1 in. of water and broccoli to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 4-6 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Saute garlic until soft. Stir in flour until smooth. Add basil, parsley and black pepper. Gradually whisk in milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Stir in Parmesan cheese; return to slow boil and add broccoli. Drain pasta; top with the broccoli mixture. Add chicken slices on top.
