For the cake

350 g self raising flour

3 tsp baking powder

350 g soft soft unsalted butter

350 g caster or light brown caster sugar

6 large free range eggs (I tend to go for happy eggs)

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

up to 40ml milk - any kind

For the frosting

100 g butter soft

250 g cream cheese at room temperature

600 g icing sugar sifted
