French Style Green Bean Casserole

This is not your standard green bean casserole! Given to me by a friend years ago, it's Green Bean Casserole with a twist! We love the crunch water chestnuts add to the beans.

Ingredients

30.5 ounces French Style green beans drained, but save some liquid

1 can Sliced Water Chestnuts slivered

2 tablespoons Butter

1 can Campbells Cream of Mushroom Soup

3 tablespoons reserved Green Bean liquid

1 1/2 to 2 cups Cracker Crumbs

1/2 stick Butter melted


Directions

*Arrange 1/2 the beans (1 can) in a buttered 2 quart casserole *Add 1/2 the water chestnuts that have been sliced like slivered almonds *Dot with 1 tablespoon butter *Spread 1/2 of the can of mushroom soup, undiluted, on top *Repeat your layers with the second can of beans, the rest of the slivered chestnuts, butter and soup *Sprinkle the reserved green bean liquid over the soup *Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes Topping: Mix melted butter with cracker crumbs and sprinkle on casserole, then bake 5 to 10 minutes more, or until the cracker crumbs are browned.
