German Chocolate Upside Down Cake

Ingredients

1 cup Coconut

1 cup Pecans chopped

1 pkg German chocolate cake mix (2 layer size)

1 pkg cream cheese (8 oz)

1/2 cup Butter

1 1-lb box powdered sugar (4 3/4 cups), sifted


Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan; line pan with waxed paper and grease the waxed paper. Sprinkle coconut and pecans evenly in bottom of prepared pan. Set aside. Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour cake batter evenly over coconut mixture. In large sauce pan combine cream cheese and butter; cook and stir over low heat until cheese and butter are melted. Stir in powdered sugar. Pour evenly over cake batter. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes. Invert cake onto serving plate. Remove waxed paper. Cool cake completely. Sprinkle additional sifted powdered sugar over cake before serving.

OMG! this cake is amazing. It is so moist and delish. I wasn't sure how the cream cheese layer would work, but it created a nice layer. I took it a step further once I took it out of the pan upside down. I added homemade chocolate frosting. We couldn't stop thinking about or eating the cake....

I made this all the time and lost my recipe my daughters birthday is July 4th and she wants this cake it is our family favorite.
