Ingredients

4 bananas Firm, ripe, unpeeled

1 Tbl. Honey

1 quart Vanilla ice cream

1 C Fudge ice cream topping heated

1/2 C Walnut coarsely chopped, or pecan, toasted

Whipped cream

Maraschino cherries

Directions

Slice bananas in half lengthwise and then crosswise so each banana yields 4 pieces (do not peel). Brush honey on the cut sides. Let stand 5 minutes. For a charcoal grill: Grill the bananas, cut side down, on the grill rack (a covered grill is best) directly over low coals 2 minutes or until grill marks appear. Using long handled tongs, turn over and grill 4 to 5 minutes more or until skin pulls away from banana. For a gas grill: Place bananas cut side down on grill rack over low heat and cover. Cook as was instructed for charcoal grill. Peel banana pieces. arrange 2 pieces of banana in each individual serving dish. Top each serving with 2 small scoops of ice cream...or large. Ladle 2 tablespoons of hot fudge topping over each sundae. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of the chopped nuts. Add whipped cream and place a cherry on top. Serve immediately. Serves 8. Easy to half for 4.

Your tried and true Hot Fudge Sundae only with grilled bananas. The bananas were quite sweet and not nearly as mushy as I had feared. They seemed to have more of a banana flavor than ungrilled bananas. Something different to try.
