Mom's Sugar Cookies

These are a thin and crispy sugar cookies that are great for decorating.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups Confectioner's Sugar

1 cup Butter

1 Egg

1 teaspoon Vanilla

1/2 teaspoon Almond flavoring

2 1/2 cups Flour

1 teaspoon Baking Soda

1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar


Directions

Mix sugar and butter. Add egg and flavorings; mix until thoroughly blended. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into butter mixture. Refrigerate dough 2-3 hours. Heat oven to 375 degrees. For Rolled Cookies: Roll dough on lightly floured pastry cloth to 1/4" thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Sprinkle with sugar; place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 7-8 minutes. For Drop Cookies: Roll dough into small balls. Place 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
