Old-Fashioned Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

2 cups (6 t0 7 Oz) Elbow Macaroni Noodles

2 tablespoons Onion grated (Be liberal, onions are good)

1 teaspoon Salt Use Kosher Salt

1/4 teaspoon Pepper

3 cups Sharp American Cheese shredded (Use what you have like Sharp Chedder)

1 tablespoon Butter

2 cups Thin White Sauce Shown in directions


Directions

Thin White Sauce For each cup of sauce: 1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon flour 1/4 teaspon of salt 1/8 teaspoon of pepper 1 cup milk Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat stiring until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat and stir in milk.Heat to boiling stiring constantly. Boil and stir one minute. White sauce is done. Old-Fasioned Mac & Cheese: Heat oven to 375 degrees. Cook Macaroni as directed on box. Place half the macaroni in ungreased 2-quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with half the onion, salt, pepper, and cheese; repeat. Pour white sauce over casserole. Dot with butter. Cover. Bake 30 minutes. Uncover, bake 15 more minutes.
