1/2 cup

7-7 1/2 cups sifted

Directions

Dissolve yeast in warm water in mixing bowl. Add milk, sugar, salt, egg, shortening, and half of the flour. Mix with spoon until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to handle easily; mix with hand. Turn onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic. (About 5 minutes.) Round up in a greased bowl with greased side up. Cover with damp cloth. Let rise in warm place (85 degrees) until double--about 1 1/2 hours. After dough rises, punch down and let rise again until almost double--about 30 minutes. Roll out in a square. Spread on butter. Add layer of brown sugar. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll square into a long tube shape. Cut into 1 inch rolls. Place rolls into pans. Cover with damp cloth and let rise for about 20 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-18 minutes.
