Red Hot Salad

Ingredients

1 c boiling water

2/3 c red hots

1 package red jello

1 c canned applesauce

8 oz. cream cheese

1/2 c mayonnaise

1/2 c chopped celery

1/2 c chopped pecans


Directions

Stir the boiling water and red hots together until candy is dissolved. Add the package of red jello and the applesauce. Put half this mixture in a bowl or mold, and refrigerate to set. Leave the rest of the mixture at room temperature. In a clean bowl, beat the cream cheese, mayonnaise, celery, and pecans until mixture is creamy. Spread over the set jello and pour the reserved jello on top. Refrigerate until set.

Size of ingredients needs adjustment because this produces too much filling. I would make it again with LARGE package of jello and 4 oz. cream cheese.

If you are too impatient to wait for the first half of the mixture to set, then just semi-set all the jello mixture togther and "marble in" the cheesy mixture. [I posted this recipe.]
