In a large kettle saute onion and garlic in oil until soft.. Stir in tomatoes and cook 5 minutes. Stir in water, tomato paste, instant beef broth, basil, bay leaves and salt. Simmer stirring occasionally until sauce thickens. Spoon into freezer containers in serving size portions, leaving 1/2 inch room.
Tip: Blend tomatoes for smoother sauce.
