Tomato Beef

This is a popular Cantonese dish served often at the dinner table because it is delicious and nutritious. This recipe uses lean beef (you can use fatty ones too) and a few tomatoes. The sauce is all natural from the tomato juice flavored with some soy sauce.

Ingredients

200 g Beef Thinly slice the beef, marinate for 15-20 minutes

2-3 Tomatoes dice tomatoes, set aside

1 Garlic Peel and slice the garlic

1 Green onions cut the green onions into 2-3 inch pieces

Directions

1. Heat up 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan, we will cook the beef first with garlic and green onions. 2. Once the beef is cooked till medium rare in about 3 minutes. Remove from heat, set aside. 3. In the same pot, we add a little bit more oil and now we cook the tomatoes. Add some water (cover the tomatoes 1/2 way) and bring it to a boil. 4. We can season this with a little salt & black pepper (optional) but we will need 2-3 teaspoon of sugar to balance our the acidity from the tomatoes. 5. Once the tomatoes are tender, add the beef into the tomatoes sauce. Cook until the beef is fully cooked. 6. Taste it a little again, add salt or sugar to taste. 7. Enjoy with a large bowl of white rice.
