Beef and Sausage Chili Con Carne

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds ground beef

1/2 pound bulk pork sausage

2 cups onion chopped

2 cloves garlic minced

2 16 oz cans tomatoes undrained, chopped

1 6 oz can tomato paste

1 4 oz can chopped green chiles undrained

1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon vinegar

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

3 whole cloves

1 bay leaf

1 16 oz can kidney beans undrained


Directions

Combine beef, sausage, onion, and garlic in dutch oven; cook over medium heat until beef is browned, stirring to crumble meat. Drain off drippings. Stir in next 10 ingredients. Tie cloves and bay leaf in cheesecloth; add to chili mixture. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add kidney beans and simmer an additional 30 minutes. Remove spice bag to serve.
