Cherry Bruschetta

Ingredients

3/4 pound fresh cherries pitted and halved

1 Tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

4 large slices rustic bread about 3/4-inch; thick

1/2 cup Neufchatel or mascarpone cheese


Directions

In a medium bowl, toss cherries, sugar, and lemon juice. Let stand 15 minutes to allow juices to run. Lightly toast bread. Cool slightly. Spread bread with cheese. Cut slices in half and arrange on a platter. Spoon cherries with juices on top.
