Preheat oven 350F. Spray 8-1/2 x x 4-1/2 inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray. TO PREPARE BREAD, in medium saucepan, combine dates, water, molasses and candies. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils, stirring constantly. Stir in 1/2 cup apple sauce; let cool 15 minutes. Stir in egg whites. In large bowl, combine flour, bran, 1 tablespoon cinnmon, baking soda and baking powder. Stir apple sauce mixture into flour mixture just until moistened. Spread batter into prepared pan. TO PREPARE TOPPING, in small bowl, combine 1/4 cup apple sauce and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Spread evenly over top of batter. Sprinkle walnuts over top. Bake 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Invert onto wire rack; turn right side up. Cool completely. Cut into 9 slices.
