DESSERT- Fresh Orange Cookies

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups sugar granulated

1 tsp baking soda

1 cup margarine or butter (two sticks) (softened)

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup sour cream

1/2 tsp salt

2/3 cup orange juice

2 Eggs

1 1/2 tblsp orange peel (from two medium oranges) grated

4 cups flour

1/2 cup butter

1 1/2 tblsp orange peel (from 2 medium oranges)

4 cups powdered sugar

5 to 6 tblsp orange juice


Directions

Heat oven to 375 In large bowl, cream sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy. Add sour cream and eggs; blend well. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, orange juice, and peel. Mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 8 to 11 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Remove cookies from oven and allow to cool. Do not scrape from cookie sheet yet (It's harder to apply the frosting if you do). Frosting In a small bowl, combine all frosting ingredients and beat until smooth. After each batch of cookies have cooled, apply frosting and then scrape cookie off of shet. Store in refrigerator or freezer. Can be eaten right away out of the freezer. This recipe should make at least 6 dozen cookies (dependint on the size of your rounded teapsoonful).
