Ingredients

2 c Sourdough starter

1 Egg beaten

1/2 ts Salt

1 ts Lemon rind; grated

1/2 c Butter melted

1 Egg beaten

1/2 c Sugar

Sesame seeds

1 ts Allspice

2 c Flour; white


Directions

Add salt, sugar, egg, lemon rind, allspice and melted butter to starter mix well. Add the flour 1 cup at a time till to stiff to mix by hand. turn out and knead till satiny. divide into 3 equal pieces roll each into a rope about 12 inches long. pinch the 3 ropes together at one end and braid loosely. Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise about 1 hour or till doubled in bulk. put on glaze and sprinkle with seeds bake 400 for 30 minutes or till browned REC.FOOD.RECIPES From rec.food.cooking archives.
