Ingredients

1 c Sugar

4 tb Golden syrup

3 ts Bicarbonate of soda


Directions

Mix the sugar and golden syrup in a large saucepan, simmer on low heat for 7 minutes. Remove from heat and quickly add soda and mix it in. This will foam up. Quickly pour into a greased 8" square pan. Leave to set. Golden syrup is much more tasty than glucose and that is what gives it the nice golden color.

Disaster... Turned out awful and completely unedible

I put it on quite a low heat, but not even after 6 mins, it was burnt before I put the bicarbonate soda in...

@gwtoy79 is it your bicarbonate that is expired? or is it you didn't whisk it thoroughly?
