Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients

4 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

3/4 teaspoon salt

3 teaspoons cream of tarter

3 tablespoons lard

2 teaspoons sugar

1 1/4 cups buttermilk

1/4 cup milk

2 cups raisins


Directions

1.Oven 400 degrees Sift first 4 ingredients. 2. Cut in lard to coarse bread crumbs. Add more lard as necessary. 3. Mix in sugar. 4. Make a well and add milk and raisins.Mix to a soft pliable dough and knead lightly. 5. Shape into a round loaf; place on a oiled, floured surface and flatten slightly. 6. Mark the round into 6 sections. 7. Bake 30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
