Libbys Famous Homemade Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients

2 large Eggs slightly beaten

1/4 teaspoon Ground cloves

3/4 cup Sugar

1/2 teaspoon Salt

1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon Ground ginger

1 15-oz can Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin Puree

1 1/2 cups Undiluted evaporated milk

1 9-inch deep-dish pie shell

Ready-whip topping (optional)


Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.Combine filling ingredients in order given; pour into pie shell. Bake 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F. Bake an additional 45 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool; garnish with ready-whip topping.

Ah, the Libby's pumpkin pie recipe...a tried and true classic that's foolproof and makes a great old-fashioned pumpkin pie. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water and brings a sentimental tear to my eye as my mind fills with wonderfully nostalgic remembrances of past holidays with family and friends, making these wonderful pies. This was my grandmother's "go-to" recipe and always resulted in a terrific pie having just the right firmness, texture and flavor. It even tastes great using a premade crust, which my grandmother NEVER did!
