In a medium saucepan bring potatoes and enough water to cover them by 1/2 inch to a boil and simmer 15 minutes until tender. Drain potatoes and when cool enough to handle cut each potato in half.
Ina a heavy skieet heat butter and olive oil over moderate heat until foam subsides and cook potatoes sliced side down until golden, 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until garlic is pale golden. Add green and cook, covered, 3 minutes untill sping is wilted.
Season with salt and pepper, stir until combined will.
