Preheat oven to 350 and generously butter 4qt baking dish.
Peel and cut potatoes into chunks, bring large pot of water to a simmer and add potatoes. Bring to a boil and cook until fork tender. 20-25 minutes.
Drain potatoes and add to mixer. Mash potatoes until smooth, allowing all steam to escape before adding remaining ingredients.
Add 1 1/2 sticks butter, cream cheese, cream, salt, and pepper. Mash to combine.
Spread mixture in baking dish and top with pats of remaining butter. Place in oven until butter melted and Potaotes warmed through, 20-30 minutes.
