Christmas cookies!
Preheat oven to 350.
In large bowl, beat butter and sugar with electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla and salt.
Stir in flour and nuts until blended.
Divide dough into four (4) equal sections.
Wrap in waxed paper and chill until firm enough to handle.
On lightly floured surface, shape two sections each into a strip 12" x 2" (adding flour if necessary).
Move to lightly greased cookie tray (2" apart)
Make a depression (1/2" deep) with finger down each strip.
Fill depression with preserves.
Bake 25 minutes until bottoms are golden.
Repeat for other two sections.
Cool strips on cookie sheets. Drizzle length-wise with frosting. When frosting is set, cut diagonally in 1" strips.
