Southern Sweet Tea

Recipes »  Drinks  »  Tea

This is the best southern sweet tea I have even had. BE WARNED: It is very sweet, cut back on the sugar if you need to. The baking soda takes the bitterness away from the tea.

"It is not really sweet enough to be called southern sweet tea but we still found the drink delicious! It was very refreshing on a hot summer day and went over very well If I make it again I would add as much as a cup more of sugar to see if it gets more southerny."

No complaints. I used rasberry flavored tea by accident. It was great. I will make it many times again using different teas.

Made this using Chai Spice tea (Stash Brand) and only one cup of sugar. Delicious! I was concerned about 15 minutes of steeping making the tea bitter. Guess the baking soda worked, because this tea is great.

Great tea. Closest thing to true southern sweet tea without going to Savannah to get it. I double the recipe and only use 1.5 cups of sugar. It is perfect!
